Set in 1879 during the last Indian Wars of post-Reconstruction America, Buffalo is a mission story of brotherhood, heroes and hostiles about the uncompromising, intimate quest for belonging during the violent birth of a nation. 

 

The series won't reify nostalgia or falsely idealize the past. It will be a granular experience of physical, emotional, and moral daring seen through the eyes of African American soldiers. An awakening to the paradox origins of conflict inherent in the white deployment of black soldiers against Native Americans in the industrial march across the American West.
