ABOUT
MARK TENN
Mark is a thoughtful British-American writer-producer based in NYC working in grounded character-driven Genre and Drama whose storytelling experience spans international development, production and distribution. London-born-and-raised from a Black/Chinese-Jamaican family with a busy history of generational movement, he loves outsider stories of resistance and moral duplicity.
Mark is a 2021 Academy Nicholl Fellowship Quarterfinalist, a 2022 Producers Guild of America Create Finalist, and 2021 National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) Latino Media Market Fellow with his feature script, BOUNTIFUL. His short drama, MIDNIGHTS, was picked up by Sony and NALIP for the 2020 Voces Nuevas series broadcast on Cine Sony — Sony’s premier US cable movie channel for the bi-cultural Latinx audience.
Mark strategized script-stage film acquisitions for executive producer, Cedric Jeanson and for leading Japanese distributor, Little Magic Films/Toshiba Entertainment, where he helped curate annual slates of films from bold visionaries such as Kenneth Branagh, Terry Gilliam and David Twohy, and intimate storytellers like Jonathan Glazer, Francois Ozon and Zhang Yang.
He also managed worldwide distribution operations for Australian drama, BURNING MAN (10 Australian Academy Award nominations) and his production credits include Mia Hansen-Løve's French drama, EDEN, and Comedy Central’s IMPORTANT THINGS WITH DEMETRI MARTIN executive-produced by Jon Stewart.
Mark started his career at Dench Arnold, a UK film and literary agency. He holds a first class MA in International Relations from Queen Mary University London, a BA in Italian with Film from the University of Warwick, UK, and has been active in grassroots civil rights advocacy as a mayoral-appointed Co-Chair of his municipal Civil Rights Commission. He has lived in Japan and Italy and as a long suffering Tottenham Hotspur fan is grateful for the enduring support of his wife and two children.
